DesignThinkers Branding

One of my core studio groups at OCAD was tasked with creating a branding campaign for the DesignThinkers Conference, held every year in Toronto by the RGD. Hillary Ashworth and Bob Hambly oversaw the project, and selected me as the grand prize winner of a free weekend pass to the conference.

Flowers, like the works of designers, are viewed as icons of beauty. The concept for this brand connects the consciousness of the designer with the role of vegetation in our natural environment. Individuals attending this conference have an opportunity to grow and elevate their spirits together. Each letter presents with a varying combination of photography and illustration, to represent different designers’ styles.

The imagery makes a subtle nod to the Rococo, or Enlightenment, a period of esteemed intellectual gatherings to satisfy an insatiable thirst for knowledge.

Citing all attendees as being perpetually cultivated reevaluates the relationship between the student and the professional in the field; insinuating that coexistence between these two entities is fundamental for design to prosper.
